We are always in need of enthusiastic individuals who are interested in joining our programs and helping us achieve our mission of driving health & life science education towards exciting new horizons! FOR PARTNERS: As a partner, you will get the chance to directly participate in our content-creation process by working with us to develop apps, games, videos, and other digital educational resources. This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with a education & health technology nonprofit organization, one that you are welcome to add to your project portfolio/CV.

FOR VOLUNTEERS: As a volunteer, you will play important roles in mentoring students or providing feedback on our projects, depending on your preference. We love getting members of our community the community involved in our projects... whether you have a few hours a week or a few hours a month to spare, we would love to have you on board and are grateful for your time!

Help Make Educational & Mentoring Platforms

Project Catalyst -
Creative Partner

Location: Remote

Type: Partnership

Position Role

As an official development partner in our Project Catalyst program, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our team on creating interactive apps, games, and other interactive eresources that promote health & life science education. While working with our team, you will be provided with a variety of assets and resources as part of the development process. Additionally, our team will connect you with medical professionals, professors, and other subject experts who serve as advisors to our projects. Preferred Qualifications

The following skills are recommended for this position:

  1. A background in computer science or a related field, with experience in app or game development.

  2. Proficiency in programming languages including C#, JavaScript, C++, Java, or Swift, as well as experience with development tools such as Android Studio, XCode, or Unity.

  3. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and debug complex issues.

  4. Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.

  5. A passion for technology and a desire to learn and stay up-to-date on the latest development trends.

  6. A commitment to volunteering and making a positive impact in the community.

  7. Experience with project management tools such as Trello or JIRA is a plus.

  8. Experience with design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite or Sketch is also a plus.

Help Mentor Students

ATGC Squad –
Mentor

Location: Sacramento Valley & Remote

Position Role

Are you looking for an exciting way to give back to your community while helping young people explore the fields of technology, medicine, and science? Consider volunteering as a mentor for our ATGC Squad program! The letters ATGC refer to nucleotides, a.k.a. the fundamental building blocks of DNA, a concept that expresses what our program aims to achieve by establishing the foundations for student interest in these diverse fields. As a mentor, you will have the opportunity to work with students of various age groups and share a little of your field expertise in technology, medicine, or science to promote student education. Your role will involve meeting with mentees (both in-person and remote options are available) and participating in student education events such as panels, webinars, and more. We are looking for individuals who are patient, empathetic, and passionate about helping students explore the above subject areas in academic and professional contexts. If you are interested in helping to instill curiosity in the next generation of students, we would love to have you as a volunteer mentor!

Preferred Qualifications

The following skills are recommended for this position:

  1. Experience in a STEM field (natural sciences, medicine, engineering, computer science, etc.) is encouraged but not required. We welcome mentors from all backgrounds.

  2. A strong desire to make a positive impact in the lives of young people.

  3. Good communication skills and the ability to establish strong, trusting relationships.

  4. Empathy and the ability to listen actively and provide support and guidance.

  5. Patience and the ability to work with people of different backgrounds and personalities.

  6. The ability to establish and maintain boundaries in the mentorship relationship.

  7. A commitment to volunteering and the mission of the organization.

  8. Experience working with young people, either professionally or personally, is a plus.

Community Tester

Location: Remote

Position Role

As a community tester, you will play a crucial role by providing feedback on our apps, games, and videos. This will help our team to tailor our projects to the needs of the community and better serve our audiences. Your primary responsibilities will include testing new and existing apps, providing feedback on their functionality and user experience, and identifying any issues or bugs. You will work with our development team and partners to help them understand how users interact with the app and to identify areas for improvement. We are looking for volunteers who are able to communicate effectively and work well in a team. This is a great opportunity for individuals who are interested in technology or health sciences and are looking for ways to pursue this passion. No prior experience is required, but a basic familiarity app functionality is recommended. If you're interested in helping to drive the improvement of educational resources, we encourage you to sign up! We appreciate your participation!

  1. A strong attention to detail and the ability to spot and report on issues or bugs.

  2. Good communication skills and the ability to articulate feedback and problems clearly.

  3. Familiarity with app functionality and user experience.

  5. A passion for technology and a desire to improve the user experience.

  6. A commitment to volunteering and making a positive impact in the community.
